The Southern Rail Commission congratulates Ray Lang in his incoming role as Amtrak Vice President, state-supported business development. Amtrak announced today that in his new job, Ray will be responsible for all of Amtrak’s state supported services including strategy, corridor development, contracting and contract management, and Amtrak’s relationships with state departments of transportation. “Ray has played a critical role in helping the SRC understand its role in promoting the return and enhancement of Amtrak service to the gulf coast. Working with Amtrak and the host railroads can be complicated and hard to understand,” stated SRC Commissioner, Knox Ross. “Ray has been critical in helping us navigate an unfamiliar landscape in an easy to understand and patient manner. We are indebted to him for the time and effort he has placed into making our projects a reality.”

In his former role as Amtrak Senior Director, National State Relations, Ray assisted the SRC in securing support and funding for priority projects by communicating their importance to federal, state, and local leadership. Ray also supported the SRC’s work by facilitating an understanding of the varying roles that government, Amtrak, and the host railroads play in providing safe and efficient passenger service. Ray attended SRC meetings locally and in Washington, DC, and arranged tours of model projects for SRC commissioners.
