Chris Christianson
Chris Christianson began his railroad career in 2002 as a fourth-generation conductor for Union Pacific Railroad and proud Union member of International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers Union (SMART-TD) Local 1545 in Monroe, LA. His duties have included working in freight, yard switching and local service between North Little Rock Arkansas and Alexandria Louisiana.
Shortly after his career began, Chris became involved with his local union, which at the time was the United Transportation Union. In 2007 he was elected by his fellow members to be the Secretary/Treasurer of Local 1545, a position that he still holds today. In 2011 Chris was elected to be the Local Legislative Representative, which involves safety issues and legislative matters that pertain to railroad workers. Chris is now the Louisiana State Legislative Director for SMART-TD, which represents over one thousand members, but remains incredibly involved in SMART-TD Local 1545. Chris proudly serves on the Louisiana AFL-CIO executive board and the SMART-TD National Safety Team.
Chris has always been proud to serve the membership of the union. Over his 20-year career Chris remains enthusiastic about rail safety, not only for his members but also the public.
